Speaker Information

At the age of 27, Chad Hymas broke his neck in an accident which left him a quadriplegic. Doctors said that he would never walk, and that without the complete use of his arms he would need an electric wheelchair.

Wondering where all of his dreams went, Hymas was in the hospital learning to balance his body again when his three-year-old son told him to "use his wings" since he no longer had use of his legs. Inspired by his son's advice, Hymas made the decision that he had the power to control his own future.

Since that fateful day, Hymas has become president of his own communications company. No longer in an electric wheelchair, he's also become a wheelchair athlete, playing basketball, wheelchair rugby, and racing in marathons. In July 2003, Hymas set a World Record by wheeling a personal marathon of over 500 miles from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas. He spends many hours with other injured individuals in therapy, encouraging them to overcome their challenges, focus on dreams and make them a reality, and to love life for all that it has to offer. Hymas is also author of the regional bestselling book, Soaring to New Heights, and his newest book, Big Trouble.

Currently the president of the National Speakers Association Utah chapter, Hymas is an in-demand speaker, sharing his message with organizations across the country. Sharing principles and values that have helped him to achieve the unachievable, he inspires audiences to stretch out their own wings, take off with confidence, and not worry about where they're going to land. Through his unique sense of humor and touching stories, Hymas delivers a message that taps into the heart of every audience.

Chad Hymas' inspirational story is a lesson to us all: if you set your mind to it, you can accomplish anything. And as his son says, "Who needs legs when you have wings?

Programs

Who Needs Legs When You Have Wings?

All of us, at times, feel paralyzed in our lives. Whether it be physical, emotional, economic, spiritual, or otherwise, paralysis makes us feel trapped, unable to believe or create a future for ourselves. In this motivating program Hymas illustrates that we can fly higher than we ever though possible. Through the principles of accepting, adapting, and acting on change, audiences learn how to conquer the emotional paralysis that robs vision and momentum, how to turn obstacles into incredible opportunities, and how to tap into unseen personal power and inner strength to accomplish seemingly impossible dreams.

Fail Your Way to Success

With his inspirational and humorous approach, Hymas touches the audience by sharing the failures and successes he has experienced while attempting to relearn how to use his body. Through his personal experiences, he teaches listeners that regardless of our current circumstances, we have the power to change our own future. By accepting responsibility, taking risks, and being willing to fail we can go through pain with the enthusiasm necessary to reach our ultimate goals!

Therapy for a Disabled Attitude

Audiences are amazed as Hymas shares the power of having a positive attitude. Despite going through incredible change in his life, he illustrates that the experience of a broken neck has helped him understand that a disabled attitude is more destructive than a disabled body! As we begin to change our way of thinking, we realize that a positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes, affecting the results we achieve in our lives.
